Are you a young individual between the ages of 15 – 19, belonging to a Black, Asian, or Minority Ethnic (BAME) background? In collaboration with Merseyside Police we are excited to announce a special project designed exclusively for young people like you! This is an incredible opportunity to engage with the police and gain unique insights into the world of law enforcement.
About the Project:
The Merseyside Police Project aims to provide a supportive and inclusive environment for BAME youth to explore various aspects of policing. Through interactive sessions, informative discussions, and hands-on activities, participants will have the chance to:
- Gain insight into different police departments and roles
- Learn about community engagement initiatives.
- Understand the importance of diversity and inclusion within the police force.
- Build positive relationships with officers and staff.
Who Can Apply:
This project is open to individuals between the ages of 15 and 19, belonging to a Black, Asian, or Minority Ethnic background. We encourage motivated and enthusiastic young people who have a genuine interest in law enforcement and community engagement to apply.
Important Details and Time Table:
The project will take place over a period of 3 days from Monday 7th to Wednesday 9th August 2023. Students will arrive at Headquarters each day at 10:00 and will finish at 15:00 / 15:30. Participants will be required to attend all three days sessions in total.
- Monday 7th August – Visit to the Control Room to spend time with the call takers and dispatchers. A visit to the Mounted and Dog section.
- Tuesday 8th August – Input from Superintendent Kaur about her career in Investigations. Visit to Wavertree custody suite.
- Wednesday 9th August – Hydra – an interactive virtual experience working through policing scenarios at Lea Green.
All necessary arrangements will be made to ensure a safe and supportive environment.
There is no cost associated with participating in this project.
